Your Guide to Visiting Fircrest Park & Roy H. Murphy Community Center

For many Fircrest residents, one of the best things about living in Fircrest is the incredible Roy H. Murphy Community Center and adjacent Fircrest Park! “Clients enjoy the strong sense of community that the center and park bring, and the easy access to activities for both adults and kids,” shares REALTOR® Austin Wagner. “Throughout the summer, full-time working parents are able to utilize the various summer kid activity programs that the community center offers.”

Not only does the center encourage families to get involved in their community and get to know their neighbors, but the center offers some great activities all year long! “The amenities and outdoor recreation options [encourage] children and families to get outside and make the best of the sunny months in the South Sound,” says Austin. “When the rainy season begins, the community center offers plenty of indoor activities and events to keep families involved and encourage kids to stay active.”

Austin also shared some of his clients’ favorite things about the center—check out one of these great amenities on your next visit:

• The community center includes a pool and gym. The building and pool were constructed in the 1960s, and the pool was updated in the 1990s.
• The Fircrest Park Pavilion has tons of outdoor amenities to take advantage of. There are 6 picnic tables, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, ballfields, electrical outlets, and gas barbecues can be used if approved by the community center staff (charcoal barbecues may not be used).

• A tot playground is also right across the street! Have little ones? Gene Goodwin Memorial Tot Lot Playground is conveniently close by.

A couple more tips for your visit: The center has large parking lots, and pets must be on a leash at all times.
