The buzz about craft beers doesn’t have to stop in Seattle or even Tacoma. There are lots of unique and tasty options south of Hwy. 512 and beyond. We’re sharing our favorites here. Cheers!
Powerhouse Restaurant and Brewery
454 East Main Puyallup, WA 98372
Hours: Open Daily 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
You might say Marisa Merritt has a soft spot for this downtown Puyallup brewery.
“We loved them so much we chose them for our wedding reception brew a few years ago,” she says. Her suggestion is to go with the sampler and try them all.
“These guys are brewers and restauranteurs at their finest!” Marisa says. “All the beer is brewed in house with oodles of thought and creativity behind it. They change them out weekly, so try not to get too attached.”
Trish Stone says they make a great Hazy IPA, and Amy Thor hails the Powerhouse “No Fruit Was Harmed” IPA as second to none. “And if you're a fan of spicy food, the fire pasta is a deliciously hot meal,” Amy says. It also earns Marisa’s “legit” stamp of approval!

John Douville finds this to be a good spot, too. “Their love of beer and the and attention to the ambiance of the brewery shows,” he says. “Good spot to have a brew and relax.”

If you're all about the ambiance and wrapped up in an experience, this might just be the brewery for you.
“Buckley has Elk Head Brewing with wood-carved tables, wood-carved art for sale and a view of Mt. Rainier to gaze at while you sip,” says Trish.

“On the way [to Elk Head Brewing] you can make a stop at a new brewery that recently opened next to the old Albertson's building called Lost Woods Taproom,” shares Trish. “While they do not serve food, outside food is welcome and there are a variety of restaurants to choose from in the vicinity.”

John describes M.T. Head as a really small brewery. “They put the micro in microbrew,” he says. “Their Golden Ale is pretty darn tasty.”
M.T. Head artisanal beers are sold almost exclusively at the brewery, but you might also find them at some other local tap houses in the area.

Cole Street proudly calls itself Enumclaw's Original Craft Brewery. This is another of John’s picks, and he can say that they love their beer!
